FILHOS DE NZAMBI
Nzambi é uma palavra da língua kimbundu, uma das línguas do candomblé de Angola. Significa Deus, o Deus Supremo, criador de tudo e de todos. A língua kimbundu é um idioma bantu, falado no noroeste de Angola, incluindo a província de Luanda. A influência das heranças afro e indígena na obra do artista Denissena, o leva a produzir uma extensa pesquisa sobre a força da espiritualidade no mundo contemporâneo. Os Filhos de Nzambi são os indivíduos que circulam pelas ruas, que habitam suas casas e criam seus filhos. Que doam suas vidas em favor de causas, ou que não doam nada. Que se dedicam a cuidar dos outros que estão na exclusão. Sim, somos todos filhos de Nzambi, Deus, Olorum, Kalunga ou qualquer que seja o nome que usamos para invocá-lo. Como cada um expressa essa relação é algo muito pessoal. A proposta desta exposição é retratar seres, através da técnica mista de escultura em argila assentada em agdás de cerâmica, e técnica spray sobre azulejos, permitindo representar esse diálogo sublime com a religiosidade. Estes seres fictícios e inspirados no cotidiano expressam a relação entre os homens e suas heranças espirituais, e de que forma, no mundo atual e cheio de referências, ainda podemos preservar tais relações, provocando questionamentos sobre como cada indivíduo pode fazer isso em sua singularidade. Ou - pelo menos na visão do artista - são os personagens que para ele representam essa relação.
Nzambi is a word from the kimbundu language, one of Angola’s Candomblé languages. It means God, the Supreme God, creator of everything and everyone. The kimbundu language is a bantu idiom, spoken in the Northwest of Angola, including the province of Luanda. The influence of the afro and indigenous heritage in the work of the artist Denissena, allows him to produce an extensive reflection about the strength of spirituality in the contemporary world. The “Sons of Nzambi” are the people that walk the streets, live in their homes and raise their children. They are the people that donate their lives in favor of causes, or that don’t donate at all. They are the people that are dedicated to taking care of the outsiders. Yes, we are all sons of Nzambi, Gods, Olorum, Kalaunga or any other name that we use to invoke Him. And how each one expresses this relationship is something very personal. The idea behind the exposition is to portray beings through the mixed technique of clay sculpture, settled on ceramic agdás, and the spray technique over ceramic tiles, which in turn portrays the sublime dialogue between everyday life and the divine. These fictitious beings, inspired by everyday life, express the relationship between men and their spiritual heritage. In this way, in this modern world, we still can preserve such relationships, provoking dialogue about how each individual can do this in their own way. Or- at least, in the artist’s view- they are the characters that, to him, represent this relationship.
